David Francis O’Connell, 83, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017.

David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy, his two sisters, Grace Keohane and Ann Albertson, his five daughters, Vicky Shelton (John), Suzanne O’Connell, Cathi Crouse (Bob), Donna Carrigan (Glenn), and Emily Greene (Steve), eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

David was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, but grew up and spent the majority of his life in South Florida. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Miami and remained an avid, lifelong Miami Hurricane fan. He had a successful career with Florida Power & Light for 42 years. He loved the mountains and spent several weeks each year hiking the Appalachian Trail, even passing his love of hiking along to his grandchildren. David enjoyed spending time with family and spent much of his retirement traveling with his wife. He was an active participant in several local organizations, including the Delray Beach Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he spent time volunteering and helping the community.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00am followed by a celebration of David’s life.
