Wayne Avis, 60, of Belle Glade, Florida, passed away on March 24, 2021.
Born April 14, 1960, in Woodbury, New Jersey, Wayne lived in Pitman, New Jersey, until his family moved to Boca Raton, Florida, in 1973. He graduated from Boca Raton High School, where he played bass clarinet in the band. He studied criminal justice at Palm Beach State College and was a Deputy Sheriff at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office from 1988 - 1992. He worked at AT&T for over 20 years, most recently as a facility technician. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the Gold Coast Wings, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter FL2-A. Other favorite activities were camping, hunting, and bowling. He had a wonderful heart and was always willing to help anyone.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Betty Avis; sister, Carol Lein, and brothers, Randall (Joyce) Avis and Russell (Joanne) Avis; stepchildren Brian (Cassandra), Jason (Marcy), and Ashley Danielle Eshleman; Jennifer Olive, Joshua Moore, and Leona Colon and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William Avis, and his loving wife, Teresa.
Due to COVID, a private family gathering will be held on Monday, March 29, at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A local memorial service will be planned in the future. Burial will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Washburn, Tennessee, at a later date.
