Vasa Jovanov Obituary
Our beloved father and grandfather, Vasa Jovanov went to be with the Lord to join his wife on August 26th, 2020. Vasa was born in Mramorak, Serbia on May 15th, 1931 to Petar and Mara Jovanov. He served in the military of what was then Yugoslavia in Bilece and Tetovo. Vasa married Dragica (Mavrenovic) and resided in Serbia and then came to the United States with his wife and son in 1967 after residing in an immigration camp in Latina, Italy for a year waiting for entry. With his family he moved to California and then across the country before permanently moving to Pompano Beach in 1974 where he was resident and a business owner. He was loved by his family, immediate and distant and always longed for his homeland. Vasa was a man that was always available to help others and willing to lend a hand, generous with his time and completely selfless. He retired in 2000 to become a full time "Deda" (grandfather) with his wife and was deeply involved with his grandchildren as they grew. Not enough can be said of the struggles and hardship he had to overcome, but his grandchildren became the center of his life, along with always tinkering projects that kept him active. Predeceased by his wife Dragica of 57 years, and his sisters Danica and Ljubinka in Serbia. Left to cherish and keep his memory alive are son Predrag (Tamara) with children Mike and Milica. Daughter Maria (Zeljko) with children Nada, Dara, Djordje and Talia, are heartbroken and will keep memory alive. He will be mourned by many beloved family members and friends in Canada, Serbia and abroad. Due to Covid restrictions, service will be limited and held by Father Milan Krstic on August 28th at Gary Panoch Funeral Home, Boca Raton at 4 p.m.
