Sylvia Anderson Whitwell

Sylvia Anderson Whitwell, 87, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on November 1, 2023.

                Sylvia was born on June 8, 1936 in Kenedy, Texas.  Sylvia grew up in Pettus, Texas and later attended Baylor University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree.

                Sylvia married Robert Ray Mills (d.) in 1957 and had two daughters together, Cynthia Anne Mills Clark (d.) and Sheridan Kay Mills.  After her divorce from Robert, Sylvia, along with two partners, opened and operated a private investigative agency in Miami, Florida.  As a private investigator, Sylvia conducted numerous investigations and sting operations involving trademark and copyright infringement of merchandise.  Sylvia later worked for W.R. Grace before returning home to Texas.

                While living with her sister, Judy Anderson Borth (d.), Sylvia reconnected with M. C. “Whit” Whitwell (d.).  Sylvia and Whit married in April 1996 and blended their two families.  Sylvia moved to Cotulla, Texas with Whit and became a cattle-ranchers wife.  Sylvia found the true love of her life in Whit and embraced the time they had together with all her heart.  Sylvia loved living on the Bar W Ranch and could often be found exploring it with her sister Judy.

                Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sheridan Mills (David); her step-children Carolyn Whitwell Morgan (Buddy), Michael Whitwell (Jamie), Michelle Whitwell Pokorny; her step-grandchildren Ryan Armstrong (Charles), Morgan Hynds (Sean), Clayton Pokorny; and her nieces Lauri Cole (Bob), Robin Oman.

                A memorial service will be held in remembrance of Sylvia on Saturday April 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the First Church of Cotulla in Cotulla, Texas.
