Robert E. Lawlor (Bob), passed away peacefully on August 14, 2021. Born in Malden, Massachusetts, to Irish immigrant parents (Annie and James) on May 11, 1931, he packed a lot of living into his 90 years. He was a PFC in the Army stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. He returned home and joined the Massachusetts’s State Troopers as a motorcycle patrolman. An on the job crash left him with an injury that forced an early retirement from the State Police. He took a security position at Gillette safety razor division in South Boston and retired to Florida in 1986.
He was preceded in death by Yvonne, his wife of 52 years, and his son Larry. Each will be waiting for his arrival with plenty of advice and opinions, previously expressed and new thoughts too, no doubt.
Bob’s love for Boston’s four major sports teams was a life long pursuit of time, energy and enthusiasm. It was often rivaled only by his passionate dislike of any team containing New York in its title.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Rita O’Brien, his sons, Steven (Huizhan), Robert and John (Lisa); his daughter in law, Dina; his grandchildren, Lucy, Gia, Bob and James; and his many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Gary Panoch Funeral home (address below) on Wednesday, August 18, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. A Funeral Service in memory of Bob will be held on Thursday, August 19, at 1:00 pm at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 380 S Federal Highway, Deerfield Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
