Paulina Hunter Obituary

Paulina Gibau Hunter, was born on August 10, 1926 in Brava, Cape Verde Islands. Cape Verde had been a Portuguese Colony, however they gained their Independence from Portugal in 1975. Paulina's mother, Maria Gibau, died at the age 58.  On April 21, 1947, when Paulina was 21, she and her father Leband immigrated to the United States via Portugal. They were the first two Cape Verdurian to come to the United States on a Visa! After settling in Sacramento, California Paulina who never graduated high school took odd jobs within the area. At a dance party, she met Alvaro Goncalves. They married on February 23, 1964 and then had a son named Michael. In 1973, Paulina decided to move to Boston. She worked much of her adult life at a linen and laundry service company in the Fenway Park area of Boston, Massachusetts.

In 2005, Michael decided to move to Florida, however Paulina remained in Macben, Massachusetts until 2012. After selling her condo, she decided to move to Florida to be with Michael. In time they became closer and closer eventually becoming best friends. Little by little Paulina started to show interest in the truth. She became wheelchair bound and Michael moved her to the Boca Rehabilitation Facility. Michael would visit her every single day; even twice daily at times. He would take her to all her doctor appointments, brought her clothes and food. Paulina loved chicken soup and bananas. Michael would often take her outside for walks and he would also study the bible with her. He took her to the meetings at the Kingdom Hall , Assemblies and the Memorials. Paulina would always say, " I preferred Jehovah over the Devil." Pauline was known as a very kind, hospitalible, friendly person who appreciated the Bible very much. Some of the friends from the congregation would also visit her. Whenever Michael traveled on vacation, he would make sure someone else could visit Paulina while he was away.

Unfortunately, Paulina's  health started to slowly deteriorate . She suffered from some dementia and hearing loss. On October 22, 2020 at 4:07pm,  Paulina passed away at the Boca Regional Hospital. She is survived by her son, Michael Goncalves, Antoinette Souza King and Paula Wellington. Very soon God's promise will be fulfilled on Earth and the Scripture at Isaiah 25:8 will come true and it says, " He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it."

So long Paulina, very soon your sleep will be cut short and you will awaken to a beautiful Paradise Earth.
