Otancila Rocher

It is with profound sadness that the Rocher’s family is announcing the passing of our beloved mother Otancila Rocher as she drew her last breath at 7:15 AM Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the age of 81 years old, just 21 days shy of her 82nd birthday. After a protracted illness, she peacefully succumbed to her late-stage dementia at home in Boca Raton, Florida with her family at her side. Among us, her death will be remembered as the end of a remarkable journey from the Island of Haiti to the Florida Peninsula in pursuit of our family dream.

Otancila Rocher was born on February 25, 1939 in the countryside of Miragoane, Haiti. She had been married to our father Vilhomme Rocher for 50 years. She was a very caring person with the innate ability to connect to other human beings regardless of language barriers. First and foremost, her love and devotion to her family were unparalleled as she poured all her energy into raising and educating her four children, and she continued to care for her grandchildren until she was no longer able to do so.

Otancila Rocher is survived by her husband Vilhomme Rocher; her children Emevil Rocher, Yonel Roche, Yvel Rocher, and Rosevila Rocher Conrad; her in-laws Lourdes Rocher and Marie Dacise Cayemitte, and her seven grandchildren Samara Russo, Brianna Seaborn, Jonel Rocher, Jada Clarke, Lyonel Rocher, Liam Conrad, and Emesly Rocher. She is also survived by three younger siblings who are currently living in her native country.

A viewing for family and friends will take place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Gary Panoch Funeral Home & Cremations, 6140 N Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33487. Then, a Funeral Service in memory of Otancila Rocher will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 22094 Lyons Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33428 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Deerfield Beach Memorial Cemetery at Pioneer Park, 380 NE 6th Avenue, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. Following the burial, there will be a repass after the burial at 22388 Swordfish Dr, Boca Raton, FL 33428.
