Nicholas Berardi Obituary

On Monday, September 27, 2021 Nicholas Mathew Berardi of Delray Beach, Florida, loving husband and father of two passed away at the age of 89. Born on December 22, 1931 in Port Chester, New York, Nick spent his childhood years and grew up in Rye, New York. While at Rye High School he learned to play the saxophone and discovered his love for music. After high school, Nick served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. He was stationed in Maryland where he served on a naval tug and then as a dental assistant. On April 15, 1956, Nick married his wife of 64 years, Josephine Fondrisi. In 1957, Nick started his college education studying business and accounting while taking classes in the evening at Iona college. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1967 and his Master’s Degree in Accounting in 1969. From 1982 to March 1987, Nick worked as Chief Financial Officer/Controller for two companies: first for Pacific Plumbing Corp. and subsequently for Beta Surgical, Inc. From 1969 to 1981 he was with Ebasco Service, Inc., of New York City, where he was corporate planning director for the long and short-range financial planning and operations budget.

Nick and Jo spent the first two years of marriage in Larchmont, New York before moving to Westport, Connecticut in 1964 where they raised their two children. Nick spent most of his adult life with his wife and family in Westport for over 50 years before retiring to Delray Beach, Florida.

Nick’s true passion in life was his music and singing. He especially loved Frank Sinatra songs, singing them anytime he could. He sang at both of his children's weddings and performed many music gigs at various piano bars in Connecticut and Florida. He loved classic jazz and instilled the love of music in both of his children.

Nick is survived by his son, Mark and wife Cyndi, his daughter, Ginee, and 4 granddaughters: Josephine, Grace, Anna and Juliana. Nick sang his way into heaven as he listened to music 24/7 in his room during his last several days on earth. In the true spirit of Frank Sinatra…“I did it my way”.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 10:30am to 12:30pm at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow 1:30pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
