Maureen Webb Dufresne, 91, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on October 21, 2020 due to complications of a stroke.
Born on March 10, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the only child of the late Wilhelmina Webb. She was predeceased by her daughter, Luanne Dufresne Prusaitis.
Maureen was a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1946, in Burlington, Vermont. These were some of the best times of her life and she enjoyed an active social life that included radio shows and minstrels. Not only was she a socialite, she also enjoyed time on the farm with close family friends, taking pleasure in walking through the fields and barns with the cows and riding on the tractor. She was employed as Head Bookkeeper at the Looney Furniture Company and was the winner in the Miss Winooski beauty contest at the age of 19 (July 1948). She is survived by her loving husband, Lucien Dufresne. Upon meeting at a birthday party in Pottawatomie, Kansas, it was love at first sight for both and they shared an unwavering love for 62 years. They raised three children together. Her great joy was living on their cabin cruiser during the summers spent on Lake George. As a true Pisces, she took great pleasure in swimming and could often be found swimming around the many islands of Lake George while camping. Maureen was a vivacious redhead with a beautiful smile and a unique personality, gifted with the ability to talk to an individual and recognize that person as an individual; she was racially colorblind. She was an avid reader. Her infectious laugh was contagious. For years, she took pleasure in working for many grateful families who valued her loving care of their children. She enjoyed the company of her Boxer dogs, as well as cats and many other assorted pet animals, not to mention her love of gorillas, owls and other creatures visited at zoos and parks around the country.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Lucien Dufresne, as well as her daughters, Shawna Benoit (Jon) and Shari Dufresne; 8 grandchildren, Shawn and Alanna Marek, Devin and Dillon Kocsis, Kalee (Chadd) Chase, Danielle (Jarod) Plotts, Jessica and Sarah Prusaitis; as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Also, her feline companions Trinity and Bengie.
A celebration of life will be planned in the future. No funeral services are being held due to COVID 19 concerns. Private cremation service has been entrusted to Gary Panoch Funeral Home in Boca Raton, Florida.
