Eileen is Survived by her son , Robert Gaeta, Natalia Gaeta, Daugher in Law and Emily Pena, Granddaughter. 
Eileen Mary (Romer) Palumbo, retired, born on July 30 1941 was the daughter of Walter C. Romer and Catherine Horstman Romer. Eileen died peacfully but unexectedly on Saturday January 2, 2021 of a heart attack at her home. 
Eileen proudly grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn NY, attended Bishop McDonnell HS and went on to Brooklyn College obtaining a Masters Degree in Education. She served as a NYC DOE school teacher, Child Welfare administrator in Syracuse NY and Health and Human Services supervisor in Central NY before retiring to Florida in 2000.  
Eileen has one son , Robert Gaeta, by her first marriage. She also has a daughter in law Natalia Gaeta and a step-grandaughter, Emily that she loved dearly. 
She loved her family deeply and missed her husband of 21 years Leon Palumbo who predeceased her in 2000. Shortly after his death she moved to Delray Beach Florida where she had many dear friends in her community of Rainberry Bay that she called home. While retired in Florida she also became engaged to Jack Fleming who recently predeceased her in 2018. She was deeply affected by his loss , currently. 
Eileen was a magnificent, beautiful and highly intelligent woman who always lived her life her way and to the fullest. She served people throughout her career, cared deeply about others and the direction of our society. Eileen was highly intelligent,  opinionated and at the same time extremely glamorous right up until the very end of her life. Eileen enjoyed her time with family and friends. She enjoyed travel, reading, learning, long conversations about most anything, fashion, tennis and bowling during her lifetime. 
She will be sorely missed by her friends and family until we all meet again in Heaven.
