Edwin R. Ashmore III of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2020, after a 10 year battle with the effects of a stroke. He was 75.
He was born in Atlantic City, NJ, on Jan 24, 1945, lived in Havertown, PA and South Florida, went to Friend’s Central School in Wynnewood, PA, attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and was an Army Chaplain’s assistant in Korea from 1967 to 1969. In his early years, he loved to sing and performed with the University Glee Club of Philadelphia. He worked in Real Estate and property management when he moved to Florida in the 1980’s. He belonged to the South Florida Kiwanis Club and was an avid boater and fisherman.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Raymond Ashmore, Jr, his sister Lee B. Glover and his brother, James Leeds Ashmore.
Ed is survived by his sister Barbara Allen (Jeff), his nephew Keith Allen (Jennifer), his nieces Carrie Dorman (Ross), Kate Garnett (Grady), Kim Golart (Justin), Danoucha Reynon (Chris), and Emmaly Read, numerous grand nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. The “Mayor” will be missed by all in the Country Knoll Community.
