Ulysees "Buddy" Mitchell, 77, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025.

He was born October 20, 1947, to the late Edna Lucille Dobson and Albert Mitchell Ulysees. Buddy grew up in McRae, GA, where he graduated from Central High School. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Mincey.

Buddy proudly served his country for 25 years, with combined service in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, retiring with honor. Following his military career, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service and later with Joe Hillman Plumbing. Known for his dedication, kindness, and devotion to family, Buddy touched the lives of many throughout his years of service and work.

He is survived by his loving children: Corinthians (Angela) McRae of Jacksonville, FL; Zandra Duncan of Savannah, GA; Angela Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Sonja (Willie) Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by his siblings: Willie Jack (Linda) of Fountain, CO; Barbara Jean Woodard of McRae, GA; Drucie Wilcox of Atlanta, GA; and Sandra Mitchell of Douglas, GA; sister-in-law Lunell Mincey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and one special friend, Stacy McRae.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; and brothers-in-law Alton Woodard, Alton Wilcox, and Clyde Mitchell.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with a service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
