Thomas David Kelly, age 64, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Born on September 11, 1961, in Hollywood, Florida, Tommy was the beloved son of Tony and Elizabeth Kelly. He graduated from Cooper City High School and attended Fairmont State in Wheeling, West Virginia.
A lifelong horseman, Tommy followed in the footsteps of his grandfather T.W. Kelley and his father Tony Kelly. He worked as a thoroughbred horse trainer at Calder Race Course and later as an assistant starter at Philadelphia Park in Pennsylvania, retiring after a long career in the industry he loved.
Tommy also cherished his time on the golf course and on the water. An avid golfer and passionate fisherman, he found joy in both pursuits throughout his life. A dedicated Miami Dolphins fan, he proudly supported his favorite team through thick and thin. Though he had no children of his own, Tommy found deep joy in his role as uncle and great-uncle. He was so proud of the accomplishments of all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and he was always smiling and supporting them. A great prankster—especially with his brother and best friend Timmy Kelly—Tommy could make you laugh so hard you would cry. Known for his great sense of humor and crazy kid-like behavior, he brought light and laughter to everyone around him.
He is survived by his sisters Kathleen Kelly and her husband Andrew Smith, Colleen Kelly and her husband Bill Swank, Karen Kelly and her husband Bill Bamford, his brother Timmy Kelly and his wife Sue Webb, and his sister Trisha Kelly and her husband Donnie Eplee, along with their twenty-two nieces and nephews and twenty-nine great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom loved him dearly.
