Stephanie Alek, 100, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on March 11, 2014. She was born in Hempstead, Long Island, NY, May 8, 1913 to Joseph and Josephine Monkiewich. Stephanie was a self-made entrepreneur in real estate and business ownership. She was an avid golfer, very active in the Republican Party and was passionate about sewing and gardening. She loved to cook, especially meals from her Polish descent. She was survived by her two grandchildren, Gina Dondona and Annie Yuzzi; Nieces Nancy Petrosky and Cathy Pierce and Great Niece Margaret Potorski and Great Nephew Patrick McGowan. Donations may be made in memory of Stephanie to Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 N. Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33487. Funeral mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church Friday, March 14 at 1PM with burial following at the Boca Raton Cemetery.
