Saulia M. Munoz, 93, peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on December 18, 2016, after a long, full, and beautiful life.

Saulia was born on April 25, 1923 to Delia Mena and Tomas Torres in Cali, Colombia. She was educated in the Normal de Señoritas, a school devoted to the cultivation of future educators.  She became a teacher and later on, a principal. She cherished and valued academia and education and instilled that love of learning in her children and granddaughter.

Saulia was blessed with two sons, Carlos and Luis Fernando (Loren), and a daughter, Mary, who cared for Saulia until her passing. She is survived by Carlos, Mary, and her granddaughter, Brigitte.

A brave and pioneering woman, Saulia brought her family to the United States from Colombia in 1962, where she continued to raise her children alongside her former husband, Carlos A. Muñoz. She was very proud of her children who all attended UCLA, following in her love of learning.

A funeral mass will be held for Saulia on December 22, 2016, 10am at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida and she will be buried at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Royal Palm, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Hunger Program in Saulia's name.
