Obituary

Rosemary (Pratt) Cook, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away June 28, 2012 in Harbour's Edge Health Center, Delray Beach, Florida with a daughter and granddaughter at her side. Rosemary was born January 20, 1918 in Shawnee, OK to Bessie (Hynes) and Jack Pratt. Rosemary moved to Chicago, IL at age five. After graduation she worked at WW Grainger and met the love of her life, Loren Cook. They were married May 5, 1938 and enjoyed a wonderful life together until his death in 1987. As newlyweds they moved to Ohio where they soon started a family and a business, Loren Cook Company. Rosemary was helpmate in the new company and served as Corporate Secretary for several years. They were blessed with four children: Mary Ellen Nopper (Will), Gerald "Jerry" Cook (Kay) Springfield, MO; Carolyn Wietzel (Ron) West Chester, OH and JoAnne "Jodee" Cook (David Thomas) DeLand, FL. Rosemary enjoyed her family, loved travel, music, decorating, and was a voracious reader. She was a talented seamstress, interior decorator and was a whiz at scrabble and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, PTA and was an active scout parent. She was a charter member of Heritage Congregational Church in Berea, Ohio serving on various boards. Rosemary became a fulltime Floridian in 1975, and joined the Congregational Church of Boca Raton where she served faithfully until suffering a stroke in 2009. Rosemary was active on the Lynn University President's Council and was chairman of the annual ball in 1995. For many years she belonged to the Royal Palm Yacht Club and was past president of the Women's Club.She was preceded in death by her husband Loren Cook and a grandson, Aaron Wietzel. Rosemary is survived by her four children, and seven grandchildren: Dr. Amy Nopper (Erik Roberts) Leawood, KS; W. Andrew Nopper (Kim) Lucas, TX; Loren Cook II (Elaine), Springfield, MO; Paula Daugherty (Jerry) Ozark, MO; and Gerald A. "Chip" Cook Jr. (Sara), Springfield, MO; Jeremy Wietzel, Loveland, OH; Joanna Payette, DeLand, FL. and eight great –grandchildren, Hannah and Jacqueline Cook, Springfield, MO; Will and Benjamin Nopper, Lucas, TX; Katy and Emma Daugherty, Ozark, MO; Connor Cook, Springfield, MO and Sophia Roberts, Leawood, KS. A celebration of Rosemary's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday July 6, 2012, Congregational Church of Boca Raton, burial of ashes in the Memorial Garden following the service, and reception and visitation following the ceremonies.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Memorial Garden Fund, Congregational Church of Boca Raton, 251 SW 4th Avenue, Boca Raton, FL 33432; or Aaron Wietzel Scholarship Fund, Moeller H.S., 9001 Montgomery Rd.
