Robert "Bob" Winston, 63, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2024.
Born on June 1, 1961, in Plattsburgh, New York, Robert was the epitome of a selfless warrior, dedicated to serving both his country and his community. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1979, where he began his military career as a military police officer. His dedication and skill led him to serve in the prestigious 75th Ranger Regiment, 1st Battalion, where he completed his service as a Sergeant First Class in 1990. Throughout his military career, Robert achieved numerous milestones, including serving as a general's bodyguard and running high-stakes missions within the Ranger Battalion.
After his time in the military, Robert continued his service as a police officer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was a proud member of the S.W.A.T. team. His unwavering commitment to protecting his community and country was nothing short of exemplary. Later, Robert became a firearms instructor for Blackwater, participating in critical operations overseas. His legacy is defined by his courage, dedication, and selflessness, which earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Robert's greatest pride was his family. He was the beloved son of Shinobu and Abraham Winston and a devoted brother to Marcia Riggins. He was a loving father to Bobby Lee Winston, Erica Winston, Alexander Winston, Darrian Winston, Kimiko Winston, Kaiko Winston, Brandon Winston, and Kole Redmond. He also cherished his daughters-in-law, Jamie Winston, Padmini and was a proud grandfather to Cianna Winston and Devante Winston. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lissette Redmond Winston, whom he now joins in eternal rest.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Robert "Bob" Winston will be remembered not only for his heroic service but for his unwavering love, integrity, and devotion to those he held dear. His legacy will live on through the lives he protected, the family he cherished, and the many people he inspired.
Rest in peace, warrior. Your watch has ended, but your legacy endures.
