Richard Bresnick's Obituary

Richard (Dick) Bresnick
Born May 1, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, to Molly & Irving Bresnick, passed away November 12, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta; Daughter, Linda; Son, Ed; Granddaughters Sarah & Chloe and Grandson Noah. Dick will be remembered by the many circles that he made part of his life, such as; Alumnus of Brooklyn Tech, City College & Columbia University. He served during the Korean War in the Army, stationed in Alaska then returned to Brooklyn to teach chemistry throughout the high schools. While playing bridge, softball, golf, going to ball games, museums and Broadway shows, he always traveled the trolleys, trains & buses. He retired as a bank executive from Chase. He became a Gold Life Master and continued to play bridge at local clubs & temples. He read all the "News that was fit to print", watched & scored many baseball & football games that he could. Always being family oriented, he was very proud that he bought a house in the Midwood section of Brooklyn on a tree lined street with a backyard. Throughout the years he maintained many friendships from his childhood which extended our many families. He always believed in sharing and helping the community by donating blood and volunteering. Mercy Home run by the Sisters' of Mercy was a huge part of his life. He not only attended the majority of the events, he supported all the activities that Linda took part of. When he became a Papa he was as proud as could be. On November 1, 1999 he received a liver transplant which gave him the opportunity to spend many hours watching Sarah, Chloe & Noah; cheering, playing baseball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer in school & on the beach. He welcomed every opportunity to see them grow. About 2½ years ago he saw them begin to play stick ball after watching a CD that showed sports of NY kids in the 30's & 40's. Many friends and family have always supported and loved Dick for being the most stand up, straight forward, and reliable person you will ever know. He touched so many lives in his own special way & will be missed by many.
