PORFIRIO A. BETANCES

DELRAY BEACH – Porfirio A. Betances, 83, passed away September 1st in Delray Medical Hospital Center. Porfirio was born on March 2nd, 1939, in Dominican Republic. He moved to the United States of America in 1953, where he attended and graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in 1957. His classmates called him "Daddy-O."

He attended Montgomery College in Maryland and received a degree in Business Administration. He retired and moved to Delray Beach – Florida in 2020 and he always liked to be called "Porchy" by his friends and family. Porchy was a loving person. His friends and family will always remember him as a good dancer, a good dominos player and a person who enjoyed photography, cars, the beach, and travel. He survived by his loving wife Teresa and his special dog Reggie, his children Lisa, Paul, Anthony and Anita, his brothers Nelson, Fernando, and David, as well as his grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Porchy will be remembered for his smile, kindness, sense of humor and, for putting the need of others ahead of his own.
