Pauline Sellers Callihan, 88 of Boca Raton, FL passed away peacefully with family at her side on August 30, 2022.

Born March 8, 1934 in Danbury, CT, Pauline was the daughter of Paul Sellers and Elsie Howe. Pauline earned a Bachelor's of Science from the State University of New York at Albany. After graduation she taught at Potsdam Central School and Bennett College.

Pauline was a dedicated bridge player reaching Life Master Status early in life. She and her husband Robert Callihan bought Jordan's Bridge Club in Boca Raton taking it from a struggling local club to the largest bridge club in North America. Most of her lifelong friends were bridge players and she enjoyed playing, teaching and running games at the club and on cruise ships. Almost everyone preferred being her partner, over playing against her.

Pauline was well known for her fierce wit and sharp mind. She loved a good word game and for many years completed the daily crossword puzzle, first in the newspaper and later on her phone.  For several years, friends and family near and far would wake to a notification from Words With Friends app that it was their turn, and they were probably losing.

Characteristically, on Pauline's final day, her waning interest in Wordle returned and she took the phone from her daughter to complete the challenge word CHIEF in 4 moves, triumphantly besting the rest of the family.  It was a fitting final victory for our Chief, who led and valued her family above all. She started the tradition of gathering the full family together every Thanksgiving. We will expand our event this year to honor Pauline, and give thanks for all that we are because of her.

Pauline will be lovingly remembered by her sister Florence Sievewright, her three children, James Rideout (sp: Diane Murray), Ann Rideout (Sp: Rick Mabe), Ellen Estrugo (Sp: Rolando Estrugo), her grandchildren, Hunter Rideout, Madison Rideout, Sawyer Rideout, Melissa Dixon, Elizabeth Rideout Thomas, Victoria Mabe, Marielle Graham, Alexander Estrugo, Captain Estrugo, Justin Mabe, and Richard Mabe.  She also had many cousins, nieces, nephews, and 5 great grandchildren, Alexia Mabe, Alexandra Mabe, Benjamin Mabe, Aaron Mabe, and Maverick Graham.  Pauline was predeceased by her husband Robert Callihan and great grandson Paul Mabe.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later time.
