With hearts full of love and gratitude, we honor the life of Patricia Maureen Carter, a woman whose faith, compassion, and joyful spirit touched every life she encountered. Born with a gentle heart and a brilliant mind, she lived each day guided by God’s grace and the deep theological understanding she cultivated through her studies. Her degree in theology was not merely an academic milestone — it was a reflection of her devotion, her curiosity, and her desire to live a life rooted in purpose, service, and love.

She expressed her faith through the gifts God placed in her hands. Cooking was one of her ministries — a way she nourished others with comfort, laughter, and togetherness. Her meals carried warmth and intention, and she delighted in sharing them. And in those rare moments when someone else managed to cook something she truly enjoyed, she would break into her unforgettable laugh and declare it “splendiferous!” That joyful word became a family treasure, a reminder of her humor and the light she carried.

She also found joy in shopping — not for extravagance, but for the simple beauty of discovering something thoughtful, something useful, something that might brighten someone else’s day. She had a gift for generosity, always thinking of others, always giving more than she received.

Her professional life reflected her calling. As a Grants Administrator in the philanthropic world, she dedicated herself to helping organizations grow, strengthen communities, and find people in need of support. She believed deeply in fairness, compassion, and lifting others up — and she carried those values into every project, every decision, every relationship.

Her faith was quiet but unwavering. She lived it through kindness, patience, and the gentle way she made others feel seen and valued. She understood that ministry isn’t always found in pulpits — sometimes it is found in kitchens, workplaces, laughter shared between siblings, and the everyday acts of love that define a life well lived.

She is lovingly remembered by her family: Her siblings Jennifer Carter, Sonia Smith MD Dennis Carter and Sandra Carter; her nieces and nephews Debbie Carter, Christopher Swaby. Cassie Smith, Karen Swaby; Ashely Carter and Jeremy Carter; and all extended family who cherished her deeply.

She now rests in the eternal peace of God’s presence, reunited with loved ones who went before her.

Her life was truly splendiferous, and so was the love she poured into the world. We honor her, we cherish her, and we carry her spirit forward in faith, gratitude, and love.
