Mary Elfreda Welsh, née Thompson, 84, of Greenacres, Florida passed away on January 1, 2025.

Born September 30, 1940 in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Agatha Holder and Ishmael Thompson. In Kingston, she was regarded as a skilled and proficient dressmaker/seamstress.

In 1972, Mary migrated to the United States and switched her career to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). As a CNA, she provided comfort and emotional support to patients navigating health challenges. Mary remained a CNA, achieving numerous acknowledgments for her dedicated service to nursing-home patients until retiring in 2020.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and missed by her remaining siblings, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other family.  She was one of three siblings (George Thompson and Gwendolyn Thompson) from the same parents.

Mary had seven other siblings (Edna Cassells, Keith Thompson, Avril McKenzie, Dorothy Thompson, Winston Thompson, Errol Thompson and Maria Hetridge) from her father, Ishmael Thompson.  Mary was predeceased by sisters Edna and Avril, and brother George Thompson.

Mary was very friendly with her first ex-husband, Lenny Douglas who will also miss her dearly.

Family will receive friend Tuesday, February 4, 2025 1-3pm with a 3pm  a Funeral Service in memory of Mary 3pm at the funeral home with Cremation to follow after. Her ashes will be scattered in the ocean as she requested.
