Margaret Sluiter Briggs joined the Church Triumphant on July 30, 2020. She diedof natural causes in Boca Raton, FL. Margaret was born June 24, 1917 in GrandHaven, MI, to Nicholas and Grace Harter Sluiter. She graduated in 1939 fromTaylor University, Upland, IN, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. In1943, she received her Masters in Religious Education from New YorkTheological Seminary, New York City, NY. Margaret and her late husband, Rev.Dr. Arland V. Briggs, pastored churches in Titusville, PA and Portsmouth, OHbefore arriving in Deerfield Beach, FL in 1952 to begin their pastorate atCommunity Presbyterian Church.

Arland died in 1989 and Margaret continued to live in her home in DeerfieldBeach. She was also predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Muller, her son-in-law,James T. Taylo III, and her daughter-in-law, Betty Gilfoil Briggs. She joins herloved ones in our Lord's protective embrace.

Margaret is survived by her children: Douglas Briggs and his wife, Barbara;Cynthia Briggs Taylo; and Barbara Briggs Guenther and her husband, Gary. Alsosurviving are grandchildren David and Christopher Briggs, Thomás and RachelTaylo, Philip Guenther and Ellen Guenther Frecka, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was an active member of Community Presbyterian Church and a chartermember of the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, donationsmay be made to The Martha McDonald Music Fund at Community PresbyterianChurch, 1920 SE 4th Street, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. Due to COVID-19, amemorial service will be held at a later date.
