Lino Charles Bernardi, 87
Lino Charles Bernardi, lovingly known as “Pops” to his nine grandchildren, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the age of 87. A longtime resident of South Florida, Lino was born on August 27 in Camden, New Jersey. The proud son of parents who immigrated from Italy, he grew up speaking Italian and carried a deep appreciation for his heritage throughout his life. In the Garden State, he spent his early years building the strong foundation of character, service, and curiosity that would define his life.
Lino lived many years along the eastern seaboard in New Jersey, Maryland, and North Carolina before settling in Florida—first in Jensen Beach and later in Boca Raton to be closer to his children and family, whom he cherished above all else.
He was a devoted husband of over 60 years to his beloved wife, Barbara, and a proud father to his children, Mark and Christina. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia. Lino was also a beloved and inspiring father-in-law to Miguel. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Natalia, Milena, Viviana, Simona, Michael, Christopher, Nicolas, Emily, and Joseph—each of whom he adored deeply and who brought immense joy to his life.
A man of remarkable intelligence, warmth, and humor, Lino had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and truly special. He would always lend a hand to anyone in need, often with a reassuring smile and the simple words, “I’ve got it.” His kindness and generosity were constants in his life, and he found great fulfillment in helping others and giving back to his community. In his earlier years, he proudly served in the United States Army and later contributed to his hometown by serving on the city council in New Jersey, helping shape the community he loved.
Lino enjoyed a distinguished career with Marriott, where he served as Vice President of Land Development for Senior Living Services. His work reflected his passion for thoughtful planning and his desire to create spaces that enriched the lives of others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lino embraced life fully. He loved boating and fishing, traveling the country with Barbara in their RV, and exploring new places and experiences. He was an avid reader and a lifelong student of history, always eager to learn and share his knowledge. He also had a deep interest in astronomy and found joy in both studying the stars and inspiring others to look up in wonder.
Above all, Lino lived for his family. He treasured every moment spent together—whether in quiet conversations, shared meals, or joyful celebrations. His love was steady, selfless, and unwavering, always placing his family first.
Lino leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will live on in all who knew him. The impact he made on the lives he touched is immeasurable, and his memory will forever be a guiding light. Now, it is our turn to carry that light forward—living our lives with the same sense of purpose and integrity that he so beautifully exemplified.
We take comfort in knowing that we have gained a guardian angel like no other—watching over us, guiding us, and loving us still—until we meet again.Ti vogliamo bene.
