Linda Varie Bagwell, of Coconut Creek, Florida – formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away on November 17, 2013 from complications of cancer at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida.
She was born the daughter of Herman and Dona (Gaddey) Beal on August 20, 1947 in a house built by her great grandfather in Wabash County, Illinois.
Linda married William (Bill) Albert Bagwell on June 29, 1968 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
She is survived by her husband and their two sons, John Bagwell of Washington, DC and Burke (Jennifer Miller) Bagwell, of Lake Worth, Florida and her grandson Blake Alexander Bagwell. Also surviving are sisters Leona (Larry) Jones of Allendale, Illinois and Katherine Carroll of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Bernard, Charles Ray, Bill (William) and Jay Beal, and sisters, Jacqueline Beal and Imogene Clark.
Linda was a secretary at Lamac Engineering in Mt. Carmel and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She retired as Post Master of Keensburg, Illinois in 2002.
Visitation will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church at 1801 NW 65th Avenue, Margate, Florida followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at the same location. The funeral service will be followed by burial at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida at 1:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Illinois Public Library Foundation at 720 Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, 62863 or Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida.
