IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lilyan
Crowley
March 23, 1919 – June 23, 2011
Lilyan Crowley passed away on June 23 in Dallas, TX, after a life filled with service to God and her family. She is survived by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren and, so far, 4 great grandchildren, as well as by the memory of her late husband Tony, who was buried here at St. Joan of Arc in 1989. She was born Lilyan Mae Griffin in Salem Illinois in 1919, as the youngest of 4 girls. After she graduated from high school she worked in Salem for several years before meeting Tony and converting to Catholicism. They married and started their family in Salem. They eventually moved to Evansville, Indiana so that their children could attend Catholic schools. They remained in Evansville until all of their children were out on their own.
After they retired to Boca Raton in the early 1970's, Tony and Lilyan were parishners and daily communicants here at St. Joan's for more than 20 years. They loved nothing more than sitting on their balcony at Newth Garden Condominium overlooking the Boca Inlet counting the yachts coming and going. After Tony's passing, Lilyan remained here in Boca Raton for another 12 years until she relocated to Dallas in 2002 to be closer to family. There, she was a resident of the Edgemere Retirement Community and a member of Christ the King Parish until her passing. She will be interred, alongside Tony in the Boca Raton Mausoleum.
