IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juan Canales
Gronlier
December 10, 1949 – September 25, 2015
Juan Jorge Canales was born in Havana, Cuba on December 10, 1949, to the late Miguel Canales Gonzalez and Olga Othelia Gronlier de Canales. He was the third child, the baby of the family, with older sister Vivian Victoria and older brother Miguel Simeon. As a young man and all throughout his life, he loved music and had an amazing talent for dancing. He planned the traditional 'Quince' parties, choreographing dances that were show stopping, and oftentimes the talk of the celebration. As a youngster, his other passions included playing baseball and caring for animals-he loved all animals. Jorge raised an entire flock of pigeons, from the time they were baby birds, even building them a special pigeon shed. His whole life, he loved drinking milk and would do anything for a plate of spaghetti, or any Italian dish for that matter. He had an obsession with cars, admiring different makes and models of cars, how fast they were and what type of engine they had.
As he got older, his passion for baseball never went away, only now he watched it instead of playing it. He enjoyed playing dominoes, spending time with family and friends, going for a spin in the car, and going to church.
Jorge passed away just three months shy of his 66th birthday after a difficult battle with cancer. He is survived by his son Adrian, his daughter Leydi, and five grandchildren. He also leaves behind his nieces: Marlene, Ivonne, Alina, and Cari; his brother in law Jose Luis, and lastly his sister Vivian, whom he lovingly referred to as "Vivi", who cared for and looked after him as a child and up until his last moments here on Earth. He is now resting in peace, joining his mother, father, and brother in Heaven.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 30, 2015, 11am to 1:30pm with a 1:30pm service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Mt Sinai, Miami, FL or American Cancer Society.
