Obituary

Joyce Sampson Miller Taylor passed away in Boca Raton, FL, on  November 28, 2017, after a brief battle with lymphoma.  Joyce was born in Colfax, WA, in 1924 but grew up in Billings, MT, where she met her first husband C.K. "Zeke" Miller.  They lived in St. Louis, MO, briefly before embarking in 1948 on the adventure of a lifetime and living in three foreign countries for the duration of Zeke's professional career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse.  Joyce and Zeke lived in Maracaibo, Venezuela, where they had three daughters.  They subsequently moved to Havana, Cuba, and later to Bogota, Colombia. In 1977 they moved to Boca Raton, FL, where they played golf, and Joyce played bridge regularly.  Joyce served as President of the Ladies Wednesday and Thursday Golf Leagues and won the Boca West Ladies Senior Championship golf tournament in 2012.  She also served on the Bridgewood Master Association Board of Directors, including three years as its President.    Joyce's thoughtfulness towards others was evident in many ways from her volunteering as a driver for cancer patients for over twenty years to her graciously delivering all the newspapers in her building to their respective doorsteps. Joyce was a voracious reader, sometimes finishing four books a week, and an avid crossword puzzle solver.  Several years after her beloved husband Zeke passed away in 1985, Joyce attended her 50th high school reunion in 1992 where she ran into her high school sweetheart, Jack Taylor.  They were married that same year and enjoyed their life divided between Boca and Billings, MT, until Jack passed away in 2000.

Joyce is survived by her three daughters, Beth Gunderson and her husband Tim of Dallas, TX, Barbara Miller of Boca and Beverly Musser also of Dallas, TX, her stepdaughter, Stephanie Taylor of Morgantown, WV, four grandsons and their wives:   Richard and Amy Musser, Bryan Gunderson and Sabrina Geer, Jordon Musser and Natalie Smith, and Blake Gunderson and Yasmin Abboud and two great grandchildren, Trent Musser and Senna Gunderson Abboud. She is also survived by her older sister Marjorie Shiell of Scobey MT, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, 10am at the funeral home.
