Joseph "Joe" Hendler of East Hampton, New York passed away on November 7, 2022 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Born October 4, 1946 in The Bronx, Joe graduated from The City College of New York with a Bachelors degree. Joe devoted his career to teaching students in the most challenging schools in
New York City.  He was one of the first instructors of computer science and was well respected by his colleagues and students. Joe was a beach lover and a strong swimmer, who was a lifeguard as well as a competitive racquet ball player, in his younger years.  He enjoyed kayaking in The Hamptons.

He will be remembered by his family and loyal friends as handsome, kind, loving and always with a positive attitude. He is predeceased by his mother, Nettie Hendler (nee Silverman) and his
father Abe Hendler.  Joe will be lovingly remembered by his two devoted cousins, Lynn C. Heyman of San Diego, California and Wendy Joan Heyman-Marsaw of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Always a protector and advisor to Lynn, Joe was like a big brother to her and Wendy.  His cousins will miss his dry humor and "joie de vivre."

A memorial will be held in New York at a future date to be announced.
