Obituary

Johann Friedrich Kohler, "John," 69, of Melbourne, FL, passed away February 8, 2014. John Kohler, youngest son of Johannes Köhler and Blanca Köhler, born in Germany and upon returning to Guatemala with his parents, lived his young Life in this beautiful country. He was a friendly person, and making friends was very easy for him, a great gift for handy things around his house, and with his cars, which he kept polishing and spottless. His adult Life brought him to the United States where he worked and studied automechanics in Northfolk Virginia, and then enlisted in the army, being stationed during the Vietnam war in Okinawa. Here he became assistant to the US army chaplain father Kinney, who has very fond memories of John as a caring man, outspoken and always ready to help the needed and taking loads of work off father Kinney. He was honorably discharged from service, and returned to Guatemla. He married in Guatemla where he fathered his three children, Johannes, Astrid and Ingrid, who are here today.
He moved to the US where he became a US citizen, married Lilly and having lived in various places in the US and of last in Viera, Florida .
As of lately he was an assiduous member of the st.John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Viera, being member of he choir , and as father John told his son and brother, a friendly outspoken person, with a kind word for anyone who would speak to him. They will miss him very much and are so sad for his departure.
A mass will be held in his name on the 23rd of February.
