Joan, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away at home on July 26, 2025.

Born August 17, 1941 in Jeanette, Pennsylvania, where she was raised by her parents Pauline & Anthony Mastro, along with her brother Tony.

She attended college in Ohio, then moved to Florida in the 1970's. While working at Coulter Electronics, she decided to go back to finish her dual degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering at Florida International University. She then joined IBM in Boca Raton as a manager for many years, and that is where she met Carl J. Kugler, Jr.  They were later married on September 20, 1986.

Joan loved to travel, and both she and Carl really enjoyed their RV and bus. They traveled out west and camped with friends in the Keys and up north (Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, etc).

When they both retired from IBM, she started a business called Art2Go Studio. She loved art and she became a registered china painter, along with glass painting and stained glass. She created several huge stained glass church windows with glass painting, stained glass lamps (as her father had once made), ornamental stained glass hangings, and she painted hundreds of pieces of china, fired in her own studio kiln. She was a huge collector of glass (especially Westmoreland and Jeanette glass) and china.

She loved her dogs and she was a very spiritual person. She was very giving and willing to help anyone she could. She was definitely a true friend to many, and someone that anyone would be happy to have met.

A visitation will take place on Friday, August 1st, 2025 from 10:30am to 12:30pm with a funeral service in memory of Joan at 11:45am at Gary Panoch Funeral Home, 6140 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton. Internment will follow at 1:30pm at Boca Raton Cemetery & Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Ave.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers in memory of Joan to Villalobos Rescue Center ( www.vrcpitbull.com ).
