Biography

Jeanne Schwob Homer, 95, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away into eternity on Friday, April 8, 2016.  Beloved mother of Lauren B. Homer and Christine Homer Compton, beloved mother-in-law of Robert Compton, beloved grandmother of Jacob William Homer, and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her dearly loved husband, William N. Homer, her brother Theodore Schwob, and her grandson Jesse Homer Little. Jeanne Homer was born in New York City on November 17, 1920 and raised in Pelham, NY.  She graduated from Colby-Sawyer College in 1940 with a degree in liberal arts and science. She married Bill Homer in 1943, and they resided in Pelham before retiring to Florida in 1974. She was the co-owner with her husband of Wagner Photoprint Company in NYC. She was a member of Huguenot Yacht Club, the Manor Club, and a leader in the Pelham PTA and other community organizations.  Residing in Florida from 1974 to date, she lived in both Lighthouse Point and Boca Raton. Jeanne founded the Lighthouse Point Beautification Committee, and her efforts resulted in the planting of trees, shrubs, and flowers throughout the community. She enjoyed boating and was a member of the Sea Bird Yacht Club and the Deerfield Country Club.  Jeanne was a prolific book reader and founded and led several book discussion groups.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and a good friend to all she knew.  She was much loved for her kindness, intellectual curiosity, and concern for others.  Her family mourns her loss but rejoices in her long and happy life.  A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at 10:30 AM, at Edgewater Pointe Estates, 23287 S.W. 18th Street, Boca Raton (18th and Powerline).  Her ashes will be scattered at sea in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
