Jacqueline “Jackie” Boutros of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on the morning of June 3, 2026, at the age of 91.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted daughter, Kareen Boutros; her son-in-law, Marcello Vani; and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Brianna, who were among the greatest joys of her life. In the last 2 years of her life, she was privileged to have had her daily companion, Wilma Hispanola, at her side. Wilma was a blessing and the family is truly grateful for her love, compassion and impeccable care. Jackie is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews around the world whom she loved dearly.
Jackie was born on July 27, 1934, in Cairo, Egypt, to Joseph and Josephine Arakgui. She graduated from the Collège du Sacré-Cœur and enjoyed a wonderful childhood and young adulthood during Cairo’s celebrated golden era, when the city was widely regarded as the “Paris of the Middle East.” Those early years shaped her lifelong appreciation for beauty, culture, fashion, art, languages and family.
In 1958, Jackie married the love of her life, Wahid Tewfik Boutros. Together they began their married life in Port Suez, where Wahid served as a Controller for the Suez Canal Company during the period of British administration. As political and economic conditions in Egypt changed, they courageously chose to build a new life in America. In December 1971, they settled in Fort Lauderdale, where Jackie’s brother, Dr. Jean Arakgui, practiced medicine at Broward General Medical Center.
Jackie began her professional career at the prestigious Alice John Rogers Boutique on Las Olas Boulevard, where she worked for ten years. She then embarked on what would become an extraordinarily successful four-decade career in real estate. She first worked with The Keyes Company before partnering with her husband in Avenue Realty. Jackie continued helping clients well into her mid-eighties, not because she had to, but because she genuinely loved people and found great fulfillment in helping families find a place to call home.
Professionally, Jackie earned a reputation that perfectly reflected her character. Friends affectionately described her as a “smiling shark”—warm, gracious, and kind, yet fiercely dedicated to protecting the interests of her clients. She was hardworking, honest, meticulous, and exceptionally conscientious. She treated every client like family, earning their trust through integrity rather than advertising. Her thriving business was built almost entirely through repeat customers and personal referrals, a testament to the lasting relationships she cultivated throughout her career. She believed in giving nothing less than her very best and inspired those around her to do the same.
While her professional accomplishments were remarkable, Jackie’s greatest pride was always her family. She approached life with unwavering optimism, a generous heart, and an infectious smile that made everyone feel welcome. Although her immediate family was small, she maintained close and loving relationships with relatives and friends across Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and the United States, never allowing distance to diminish the bonds she treasured.
Jackie treated every person she encountered with kindness, dignity, compassion, and respect. She instilled those same values in her daughter and grandchildren through both her words and, more importantly, her example. Her deep faith, generous spirit, resilience, and unwavering positivity touched countless lives and will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wahid Boutros; her brother, Dr. Jean Arakgui; and her parents, Joseph and Josephine Arakgui.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Nicholas Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 5715 Lake Ida Road, Delray Beach, Florida, followed by a reception in the church hall from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jackie’s memory to a worthy charitable organization, preferably one that serves children in our community.
Jackie’s beautiful smile, steadfast faith, boundless generosity, and unconditional love leave a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, clients, and everyone blessed to have known her. Though she will be profoundly missed, the example she set and the love she shared will continue to guide future generations.
