Biography

Ida Brescia Nastri, 97, of Delray Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015 with her loving granddaughters by her side.
She was born May 15, 1917 in Greenwich, CT, the daughter of Donato and Maria Brescia. Ida survived two loving husbands, her only child, Valerie V. Wherry, and her siblings. She was first married to Frank Venditto, before his early passing. Together they had their beautiful Valerie, light of Ida's life. Ida later married Claude Nastri, who became a loving step-father to Valerie. Ida was the youngest in a close-knit family that included brother Alessandro and sisters, Grace and Pauline. Ida is survived by son-in-law, Daniel G. Wherry, granddaughter Kristine Wherry Atkins, her husband, Tom Atkins and their daughter Tessa, and granddaughter Jill Wherry Akins, and her husband, Todd Akins and their children Stella and Liam. She will also be missed by cousin Alicia DeRosa, niece Sandy Perrini, nephew Ron Benza and their families.
Ida led an active and vibrant life, centered around family, friends, good food and fun! She was quick with a joke, played a mean game of poker and made the best meatballs around. She was a master seamstress, had a great sense of style, and was happiest when family and friends were gathered around her kitchen table. We will always remember and appreciate her thoughtful and sage advice on life and love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 26th at Abbey Delray South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 1901 S.
