IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerard "Gerry" Joseph
Cramsie
November 22, 1928 – September 14, 2024
Gerard "Gerry: Cramsie, 95, of Delray Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Gerry was born on November 22, 1928 in Hamden, CT and moved to Manhattan, NY with his parents, James and Alice (Flynn) Cramsie, where he grew up. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia K. (McEnaney) Cramsie, whom he married on October 14, 1950, at Incarnation Church, New York City and his siblings, William (Sean) Cramsie, James (Shammy) Cramsie, Michael (Mickey) Cramsie, Owen (Owey) Cramsie and Jane (Ginny) Hazlett.
After serving his country in the Armed Forces during the Korean War, Gerry settled in Wappingers Falls, NY where he raised his family. He enjoyed a long career with IBM as a Programmer and relocated to Boca Raton, FL in 1984 and retired in 1987.
Gerry had a great love for his family and took immense pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and planning family trips to Disney.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed reading history books and was a great storyteller.
Gerry was an avid bagpipe player learning as a young child and joining several bands in New York City and competing in many competitions. This is a family tradition handed down by his father. In later years, Gerry started the Dutchess County Pipes and Drums teaching adults and children. The band marched in many parades in the Hudson Valley area and numerous St. Patrick Day Parades in New York City. He continued playing the bagpipes till his 92nd year, even playing at his own 90th birthday celebration. To say he was passionate about bagpipes would be an understatement and many family celebrations, weddings and parties were filled with this distinctive music.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his children; William (Debbie) Cramsie, Marianne (John) Mortoly, Jean Brooks (Bernie Janeczko), Kathy (Brett) Claydon and Christine Cramsie-Smith (Buddy Heyman); his grandchildren; Lauren (Robert) Bieniek, Courtney (Osnal) Renaud, Nicole (Karol Bieniek) Cramsie and Danielle Smith; and his great-grandchildren; Colin and Gavin Bieniek, Will, Sean and Owen Renaud; Izabella Cramsie-Bienieck and Olivia Cramsie-Bieniek. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a special sister-in-law, Terry Cramsie (late Owen).
Gerry will be remembered as a wonderful giving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by many. His faith was very strong and a great source of comfort throughout his life and especially at the end.
The Family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2024, from 4 to 6 at Gary Panoch Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ascension Catholic Church, Boca Raton. Interment with military honors will take place following the Mass at the South Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gerry's name can be made to a charity of your choice.
