Gerald "Jerry" Emery Rason, the son of Reginald D. Rason and Rhea M. Phillips, was born September 29, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry graduated at the age of sixteen from Southeastern High School on June 20, 1947. He served his country honorably as a Sergeant of the United States Air Force specializing in emerging radar technology and he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After leaving the military, Jerry began his career with IBM in Detroit, Michigan. From there, he worked in White Plains, New York; London, England; Princeton, New Jersey; Paris, France; Tokyo, Japan; and Wilton, Connecticut, over a span of 36 years. He met his wife, Tricia in a London Laundromat and the romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage of 39 years. Jerry loved flying, computers and electronics. Jerry retired from IBM at the age of 58 in Boca Raton, Florida, where he enjoyed family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife Tricia Rason, sister Virginia Markwart, son William Rason and his wife Starr, daughter Catherine DeVivo, and daughter Alexandra Rason Coons and her husband Timothy, grandchildren Stephen, Kavic, Amanda, Katelyn and Kennedy and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Sonaya.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Gary Panoch Funeral Home, located at 6140 N. Federal Highway Boca Raton FL 33487. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
