In Loving Memory of George Ignatius Fernandez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Ignatius Fernandez, 56, affectionately known as Iggy to many but to his family, Joe, who departed from this world on December 10 2023, with his loved ones by his side. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Born July 31 1967 in Singapore, Iggy/Joe touched the lives of many with his charming personality, unwavering love and quick wit. He was a humble man, a true gentleman, who loved the simple pleasures of life. Iggy/Joe was a free spirit who unconditionally touched the lives of everyone around him with his utmost sincerity, love, care and dedication. He was a beloved son to Freda and George, as well as loving, gentle and indulgent spouse to Genevieve. Iggy/Joe was also a loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Iggy/Joe was well travelled and had a thirst for knowledge. He began his career first as a flight steward with Singapore Airlines before pursuing a degree in psychology with Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He fell in love with America and made it his home for more than 20 years. From Indiana, he moved to Florida, first to Delray Beach and then to West Palm Beach. He filled several managerial roles in the retail industry before finding new joy working for Publix. His impact on those around was immeasurable, bringing joy to others through his conversations and care. Family and friends will forever cherish memories of Iggy/Joe and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence.

The funeral service to celebrate Iggy/Joe's life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 with a viewing at 9 am followed by mass at 10 am at St Nicolas Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Delray Beach.

Though you may be gone from our sight, you will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace, dear Iggy/Joe.
