Obituary

Lyman, Frederick Clark, 86, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his home in Boynton Beach, FL. He was born March 7, 1925, in Minneapolis, MN. He leaves his wife, Charsie Morgan Lyman, his brother, Norton Cross Lyman, his sister, Charlotte Lyman Fardelmann, several grandnieces and grandnephews, his step-son, Robert Hollingsworth, two step-grandchildren, and a step-great grandchild. Fred graduated valedictorian of his class at Blake School in Minnesota. He served in the Army in the European Theatre of World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, Fred attended Yale University from which he graduated with honors. Most of his adult life was spent in Washington, New Jersey. He became an artist working in watercolor, oil, and other media. He taught himself to build musical instruments. Jazz musicians appreciated his hand-built basses. Fred was a gentle man with a good sense of humor. He was very appreciative of the kind acts of others. He had a creative mind and found satisfaction in his many artistic endeavors and accomplishments. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to one's favorite charity in Fred's honor.
