June 24- Francis Joseph Platt (96) of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Northvale, NJ and Commodore, Pa. Fran was born on February 14, 1920, in Johnstown, PA. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1942, with degrees in physical education and English, and remained a lifetime fan of the "Fighting Irish" football team. Fran served proudly in WWII, then married and raised six children, while teaching English and coaching basketball and tennis at Portage and Purchase Line High Schools in Pa, and Tenafly High School in NJ. Franny was a dedicated husband, father, teacher, and coach, who loved sports, gardening, corny jokes, and nature, particularly the beach. He is predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Pat. Fran is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Les Weinzierl; six loving and devoted children and their spouses, Kathy and Bill, Joellen and Tom, Joyce and George, Patty and David, Francis, and Janet and Alan; grandchildren Michael (Margie), Courtney(Greg), Brandon (Molly), Ashley(Nick), Jason (Emily), Brittany, Kari (Jeff), Candace, Jess, Ryan, Melissa, and Chelsea; and great grandchildren June, James, and Casey. Franny also leaves behind many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews from Pa. In honor and memory of Francis' WWII service, his family would like to direct any donations to Disabled American Veterans.
