IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evanita
Swanney
March 16, 1954 – December 16, 2024
Evanita Corpuz Swanney died peacefully on December 16th, 2024 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Upon diagnosis of the genetic lung mutation (EGFR) in July of 2023, she countered the disease with immunotherapy treatment and continued to work and travel happily. Known as 'Bing' by those closest to her, she began her life March 16th, 1954 in Camarines Norte, Philippines, to a family that grew to include ten brothers and sisters. She spent her whole life commitment to her career as a surgery nurse, starting from age 19 working in London England, onwards to Terre Haute, Indiana, and lastly in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Notably, Bing was recognized twice as Nurse of the Year for Broward General Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Swanney, married 42 years ago at Kings Road, Chelsea, London. She was incredibly proud of her daughter, Rebecca Swanney, a counselor and actress, and son, Kyle Swanney, a Coast Guard officer. She adored her grandchildren Quinn, Rowan, Harper, and Harry. The abundance of family, friends, and co-workers that she leaves behind assures she will always be dearly missed.
Bing loved travel and cruises. She enjoyed watching soccer, especially when it was her children playing. She loved her garden, and was especially fond of her mango tree. In peak season, she would always ship or hand-deliver the abundance to her family. Her travels with Peter and family took her to incredible destinations around the world: from the mountains in Ecuador, to the scenic nature of Newfoundland, to beach vacations in her native Philippines. Above all, Bing loved to spend time with her family members and friends.
Although departed, know she lived a happy and fulfilling life full of love, dancing, and joy.
Family will receive friends 1:00-4:00pm, Sunday December 29th, 2024 with a 3:00pm funeral service at the funeral home. Dress will be South Florida smart casual (no suits, jackets, or ties necessary). The local weather at the time will be 65F- 80F. Please wear colors as Bing would have liked that.
