Obituary

Edward A. Sisko, age 73, died at home on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, following a courageous 41-year battle with diabetes and later Parkinson's.

Born in South Amboy, NJ, he was a resident of Florida for 43 years. Ed was a corrections officer at Rahway State Prison, Rahway, NJ before moving his family to Boynton Beach. Ed was a union painter and joined the Boynton Beach Fire Department in 1971, until his retirement in 1994.

Ed's love of baseball was second only to that for kids. From working endless Saint Mark School activities, coaching and serving as President of the Boynton Beach Little League to volunteering as assistant coach to both Cardinal Newman and Santaluces High Schools, Ed was a constant and welcome presence on and off the field.

Ed was a member of Saint Mark Catholic Church and before his Parkinson's, he could be found ushering the 9:30am mass each Sunday. With a wink and a smile, he was there to greet and assist, as needed. In addition to his many other activities, Ed was also a Fourth Degree and Third Degree life member of the Knights of Columbus.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Anna Judy (Hrankowski); his daughter, Karen Ann (Bob) Halmi of Freehold, NJ; his son, Ed Sisko of Boynton Beach; grandsons, Robert, Andrew, Christopher and Thomas Halmi; and sisters, Doris (Bob) Malik and Lillian Dougherty of South Amboy, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 17th, 11am at Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, followed by a reception in the parish center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Ed Sisko to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation, 3711 Garfield Street, Hollywood, FL 33021.
