Obituary

Don Cook of Boca Raton (formerly of Fort Lauderdale and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) passed away on March 04, 2025. He was 80 years old. Don was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2021. He died peacefully at Artis Memory Care in Boca Raton, surrounded by family.

Don was born on December 11, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey and grew up in nearby Haddonfield. He attended Lehigh University for his undergraduate studies and the Wharton Business School for a masters. He spent his career with the Ford Motor Company, living all over the United States, and in Canada and England. After retiring from Ford, he worked at Auto Nation under Wayne Huizenga, which brought him to South Florida, where he'd happily been ever since. He attended St. John the Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale and was a greeter at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton.

Don loved golf from an early age, spending his youth in New Jersey as a caddy. He played many rounds at Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale and Forest Lake Country Club in Michigan. He got the travel bug after living in Europe and spent many wonderful vacations in Italy. In Florida, he discovered a love of cruises.

Don is remembered by Kathleen, his loving wife and partner of 12 years; his children Donald and Diane, their spouses Neylan and Jorge, and two grandkids; and by his younger brother, David. He was predeceased by his first wife, Linda, mom of Don and Diane, who died in 2008, and by his beloved Baxter, a pint-sized Cockapoo with a giant personality, who died in 2023. Don loved life like no other. He will be deeply missed.

There will be a small memorial for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate).
