DAVID JORDAN MANGAN, Jr.
Passed peacefully into Eternal Life at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida, March 10, 2015 at age 72 surrounded by loving family.
David was the oldest of five children born to David and Angela (nee Knoernschild) Mangan on July 1, 1942 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. After graduating from Marquette High School, he entered the Novitiate and acquired a classical education in his 5 years as a Jesuit seminarian. He left the Jesuit order in 1965 to pursue a Masters in European History with a full fellowship from the University of Michigan.
In 1969, he entered the United States Foreign Service Diplomatic
Corps. and served in U.S Embassies in Vietnam; vice-consul in Lyons, France; political military officer in Jeddah,, Saudi Arabia; and Beirut, Lebanon, as well as serving as special assistant in the IO (international organizations) bureau in Washington, DC. He drafted UN peacekeeping resolutions and managed the largest bureau in the State Department under the Assistant Secretary. After the State Department, David worked as international editor of The Oil Daily, where he covered The Gulf War in Kuwait and wrote extensively on foreign policy and oil. He authored articles on low-intensity warfare, as well as articles on Southwest Asia, India, Pakistan, the Middle East and OPEC.
David segueyed to the corporate world, when he accepted a position at BP Amoco in 1992, where he managed Southwest Asia, the Middle East, Canada, and Latin America. He met with the leaders of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela and Mexico through these years.
In 1981 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Prasinos at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral inWashington D.C. and they had one daughter, Nicola, born in 1989. His parents-in-law were Nicolas and Bessie Prasinos of Lincoln MA, E. Dennis MA and Boca Raton FL.
David served on the Board of Directors of the Middle East institute in Washington, DC, was of-counsel to Jefferson Waterman international and taught international business at FIU after retiring from BP Amoco.
David was preceded in death by his parents and had four younger siblings;
One brother James (Margaret) is deceased, and he is survived by Richard (Margaret), Ellen (Joseph Turzynski), and Gregory (Nancy). He is also survived by aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

Burial: East Dennis, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in David's name sent to the Richardson Foundation, Center for Global Engagement p, Santa Fe, New Mexico or to the family for memorial on Cape Cod.
