IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel
Kibler
August 16, 1946 – April 26, 2015
Biography
Daniel Lee Kibler, 68, passed away on April 26, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife Kathy Kibler, Mother in Law, Marie Hayes, precious puppy Bella (Daddy's girl), daughter Dee McCarthy, husband Kevin, grandchildren Maddie, Sadie, and Mia, step son Preston Moody and his wife Shelly Moody, brother Dale Kibler and his wife Rosemary, nephew Drew.
Following graduation from Kent State University, Dan spent a short time as a teacher. Dan then moved to the District, where he became well known in the restaurant industry. He was the owner of Casey's restaurant in Georgetown, and before that served a loyal following as a Capitol Hill bartender, (at places including the Hawk n' Dove and Duddington's).
Dan was a beloved character in Washington, with customers coming to his establishments just to visit with him and the people he attracted. He was noted for bringing people together by hosting annual bus trips to the Preakness. Along with his extensive group of friends in the DC area, he had an even larger network of friends across the country with whom he maintained regular contact. He particularly enjoyed over a dozen trips to the Super Bowl, and annual camping trips to the Shenandoah Mountains at Camp Rapidan.
After residing in DC for over thirty years, Dan relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina where his brother Dale and his family resided. He became a well respected Realtor and was well known for his honesty and loyalty to his clients. He met Kathy in Wilmington and they were married on April 7, 2007. He later moved to Delray Beach, Florida where he resided with his wife Kathy, Mother in Law Marie and his little girl Bella.
Dan loved his family, friends, horse racing and sports especially football. He frequently visited Saratoga racetrack in New York and spent time on Lake George with Kathy, their favorite place in the world. He participated in two Fantasy Football leagues. Dan had many friends across the country who were like family to him. He loved each and every one of them.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Wilmington, North Carolina on Saturday, June 13, 2015. For further details, contact Dale Kibler, 910-540-0062 or Rosemary Kibler, 910-231-2076.
