Clayton Victor Bankston Jr. was born on October 26, 1947 in New Orleans, LA. As an adult he served in the New Orleans Police Department and later became an attorney specializing in admiralty cases after he moved to New York and married Andrea Fortunoff.

Clayton greatly enjoyed cooking fine cuisine, scale modeling and studying military history, especially the Civil War and World War II. He was also an avid animal lover, and took great joy in caring for his cats. Additionally, Clayton's warm charisma, intellect and keen wit made him an unforgettable personality to anyone who knew him.

Clayton was a loving father to his son Stanford, who he enjoyed traveling with to many historic battlefields and museums. Clayton was overjoyed in 2019 when his first granddaughter Shayna was born. Clayton is survived by Andrea, Stanford and his granddaughter Shayna.
