Cathy Wiley, a beautiful, brave and loving soul went to be with God on Friday, December 7, 2012. Cathy was born on May 21, 1940 to Jildo and Margaret Spera, in Newton, Massachusetts. She moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida in 1967, and then to Boca Raton in 1983. Cathy lived life with a great sense of humor, a steadfast moral compass and dedication to the Catholic Church, the heart of a peace-maker, and an amazing inner strength. While her two sons were in elementary school, she volunteered at the school library and actively raised and supported her sons as a stay-at-home mom. Later, while her son Joe attended Broward Community College, she also pursued a degree and became widely known to many of Rick and Joe's childhood friends as the student who was going to get the A grade. She worked many years for the American Cancer Society, and subsequently at Boca Raton Community Hospital as a tumor registrar in the Oncology Department. Cathy was an active member of Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida, and participated in the Council of Catholic Women, coordinated and assisted with holiday food, clothing, and toy drives, craft fairs, and served as a Eucharistic minister. Cathy battled Parkinson's Disease in the later years of her life, but even as the disease progressed she maintained her sense of humor and her intense love and support for her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wiley and great grandson Braydon Joseph Nunley. She leaves behind loving sons Richard Wiley, Joseph Wiley and wife Teresa Wiley, grandchildren Greg, Brittany and Matthew Wiley, and great grandchildren Kian, Aubrey, and Brynleigh Milligan. She will be dearly missed. Wake service will be from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 11th at Gary Panoch Funeral Home, 6140 North Federal Highway. A funeral mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 7250 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
