Bruce David Dent, 81, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away October 28, 2018. A resident of Boca Raton for almost 50 years, he is survived by his beloved wife, Jane, having just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Born and raised in Endicott, NY, he is a graduate of Lafayette College in PA and Florida Atlantic University where he earned an MBA. Bruce worked with IBM for 33 years and was on the team that developed the Personal Computer. After retiring he started his own computer consulting business in Boca Raton. He will be remembered for his leadership with the Boy Scouts of America, the Golden Harbour Yacht Club and the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton where he was a member since 1969. At the church he served on several committees, was active in the choir, and volunteered his time on many church projects. Bruce is also survived by his loving children: Eric B. (Amy M.) Dent, Kyle D. (Jacqueline M.) Dent, Rebecca D. (John R.) Clark; grandchildren: Anthony (Hannah), Julia, Alec, Dominic and Elena Dent; Riley and Jack Clark; sister Audrey M. (John) Baumberger; sister-in-law Marcia (Richard) Kelley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trustbridge (Hospice by the Sea) and the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton.
