Bernard M. Colwell, Sr., 85, of Punta Gorda, FL, died on Friday May 16, 2014. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Louise Colwell.

He was born December 24, 1928 in Aurora, IL, to John and Ellen (Mosley) Colwell. Bernie was married to Louise Kauski 59 years ago and started a loving family. His full-time job was an auto mechanic, but he kept very busy during his off-time taking an active role in raising his children and fixing up the family homes and cars. He was a strong, quiet, man and was sometimes intimidating to those who didn't know him. He was tough when he needed to be, but to his family and friends, he was a loving, caring, sensitive man who gave generously and selflessly to those he loved.

Bernie will be greatly missed by his five children; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Bernard will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Louise, at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors.
