Barbara Overcash

April 28, 1942 - August 30, 2022
Barbara was born in Concord, NC. She excelled in many sports in high school, particularly basketball. After graduating from Pfeiffer College in 1964 with a degree in Physical Education, she taught in the Charlotte area until she moved to Florida in 1971. At Piper High School in Sunrise, FL, she coached the girl's softball team that won the state championship in 1976. The last 18 years of her teaching career were spent at Boca High school.
Barb loved reading, music, and sports. Watching the UNC Tarheels basketball games was her passion! She also loved animals and had several beloved pets. She is survived by her wife and partner of 32 years Jo Winchester, her stepchildren, her sister and brother-in-law Laura and Marc Bruno of Virginia Beach, VA, granddaughters; Phoebe Alves of Plano, TX, Molly and Lucy True of Chapel Hill, NC, three nephews; Michael Bruno of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Bruno of Raleigh, NC, Stephan Bruno of Brandon, FL and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
