IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Avery Lewis
Clay
February 10, 1976 – August 12, 2020
Avery Lewis Clay was 44 years old and resided in Boca Raton, Florida with family until his passing on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Avery was born to Archie Clay and Connie Clay Greene on February 10, 1976 in Marks, MS. His mother nicknamed him, Huggy, as a little boy and family and friends fondly referred to him by this name throughout his adult life. He was a true sports lover. Huggy never missed a super bowl game and loved to have friends over for the big game. He played basketball throughout high school, and as he grew older, he loved proving to his sons that he could still work magic on the local basketball courts. He was also a true believer in providing for his family. He began his professional career on the shipyards of Memphis, TN and later completed certification to become a train conductor for the union Pacific Railroad in St. Louis, MO. He worked with Illinois Central for nearly 15 years before relocating to Florida where he continued his work with railroads until his passing.
Avery, even though he will always be our Huggy, is survived by his wife of 24 years and the absolute love of his life, Yolonda Denise Clay of Boca Raton Florida; three sons, Kentavious Latrell Clay (Jackie) of St. Louis MO, Avery Lewis Clay Jr. and Keevon Lavelle Clay, both of Boca Raton, Florida; One grandson, Kentavious Clay Jr. of St. Louis, MO, brother-in-law Issac Conway (Latoya) of Coahoma, MS that he considered his brother since he was an only child. Huggy also leaves to cherish his memory his father, Archie Clay (Diane) of Marks, MS. His loving mother, Connie Greene of Kansas City, MO and the man he cheered for winning his mother's heart, his stepfather, George Greene.
Also cherishing his memory are his grandparents, Hugh and Mildred Turner of Marks, MS, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
